This post totally inspired me! I made Martha Stewart’s zucchini chocolate cakes and some peach rosemary jam and can’t wait to have some time to re-explore Vancouver. Sounds like a great stay-cation!

Sounds really good. People don’t even realize they do not necessarily have to leave Toronto for holidays. If I have some free time, I actually really like to stay and explore places I don’t know, since there is just so many (even though I have lived here for years). Oh by the way, the pie looks unbelievably delicious.

peanut - thanks so much! the night time photo of the three of us was taken by putting my camera on a bench and using the remote control i recently got. no flash! i never use flash. my aperture was f 1.8. if your camera is resting on something steady, then clear night time shots are totally possible. suz - i love these flats. they are made from recycled newspaper. i bought them from moxsie. jill - i can't believe i can walk to so many great places now. our neighborhood gets better every day! tasha - enjoy your staycation! any of those places would be great to visit. so delicious. michelle - i wish i had some pie left to share with you. next time! it was really great. and now i'm not scared to make pies. amanda - you're right, i should do this more often! joanna - i love their idea of open sandwiches. i need to go back and try out more of their menu!

Staycations = lovely. And I agree with you about Zocalo. We took some friends for brunch yesterday and it was delicious.

Oh your timing is perfect! I have a stay-cation coming up, 10 days! We’ll be doing 2 small day trips, but these restaurants sound perfect as we will also be visiting a family member in hospital in the west end.
